Contact Lenses
Nearly 25 million Americans are currently wearing contacts! Over 16 million contact lens wearers are female. Eighty percent of contact lens wearers are between the ages of 17 and 44. Most of these people are nearsighted and utilize daily wear, soft contacts. Contacts are available in two basic types: Soft and Rigid Gas Permeable. Eighty-five percent of patients wear some form of soft lenses. Contact lenses are capable of correcting different types of visual impairments such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and presbyopia.
People wanting to wear contact lenses should schedule an appointment with an eye care professional for the appropriate evaluation and training required to wear and care for contact lenses. Contact lenses are a medical device and require a doctor’s expertise in prescribing them for routine wear or cosmetic wear. A contact lens candidate needs to be motivated to wear and care for contacts before starting the detailed evaluation and training process.
Kirschner Vision Group has a wide variety of contacts available for many different visual needs. We have many specialty lenses from soft toric contacts, bifocal contacts, continuous wear contacts, daily disposable, and cosmetic/color contacts. Visit one of our locations for a contact lens examination so we can determine which lens modality is right for you!
Corneral Refractive Therapy: PARAGON CRT
Corneal Refractive Therapy with Paragon CRT®
Now you can be free of daytime contact lenses and glasses during your daily activities without undergoing surgery and enjoy great vision! Recent clinical research combined with the latest corneal surface mapping technology, computerized manufacturing and space age oxygen-breathing materials have brought new science to corneal reshaping.
Corneal Refractive Therapy is a non-surgical process clinically developed to reshape the cornea while you sleep. The result is the temporary correction of myopia with or without moderate astigmatism.
Similar in appearance to standard contact lenses, Paragon CRT therapeutic lenses gently reshape the corneal surface during sleep and provide clear, natural vision when the lenses are removed upon waking.
Because Paragon CRT offers freedom from glasses and the hassle of wearing contact lenses during the day, this leading-edge technology can enhance the lifestyle of those requiring vision correction. Active individuals can freely participate in sports without the interference of glasses or bother of contacts. Eye irritation or dryness, sometimes associated with contact lens wear due to outside dust and pollutants, is eliminated.
Optical Dispensing
A frame is not complete until the lenses are inserted! At Kirschner Vision Group, we have the most innovative lenses available to our patients. Our in-office finishing lab has the ability to fabricate the majority of lenses to satisfy your visual needs! Our finishing lab allows us to provide that personal touch to your glasses.
Kirschner Vision Group will provide recommendations to ensure that your new lenses will match the needs of your lifestyle. During the frame and lens selection, we will consider your prescription, lens designs, and lens options to match your new glasses with your visual demands.
Visit our Lens Center for demonstrations on lens materials, coatings, and tints that can be utilized to enhance the appearance of your new glasses. Just by changing the material used within a lens and adding special lens treatments we can create a more thin and invisible lens for our patients.
Sun protection is a must for everybody. Sun glasses must have ultraviolet (UV) protection. Cataract development can be hindered by the use of appropriate, UV protecting sunglasses. The whole family should be protected from the harmful UV rays of the sun.
Eye fatigue with computer work and annoying lighting conditions with night time driving can be alleviated by the addition of an anti-reflective/glare coating to your lenses. This coating will not only improve visual comfort it will also remove distracting reflections and make your lenses "disappear" within your new frame.
Gone are the days of having the line bifocals! No-line progressive lenses or invisible multi-focals are available. These line-free lenses will provide clear vision for distance, near, and intermediate working ranges. In addition to the wide working range, this lens has the appearance of a single vision lens making it more cosmetically desirable!
Specialty lenses will be offered for unique, work related or hobby related tasks. Special tints can be added to reduce surface glare while fishing, boating, golfing, and driving. Polarized lenses are ideal to eliminate this glare created by water, sand, snow, and windows. Sport lenses are available in many designs, colors, and treatments. High impact resistant lenses are indicated for eyewear on the court or on the slopes.
Patients looking for the ability to have clear lenses indoors and sunglasses outdoors may want to consider "Photochromic" lenses. These lenses will darken and lighten with the changing sun light exposure! Also known as Transition lenses, this quality is available in many lens materials and designs.
Laser Vision Correction
In the past, people would have to rely on glasses or contacts to provide clear vision to their visually impaired eyes. Today, a third, reliable option is available for vision enhancement: Laser Vision Correction. Since the late 1980’s, Laser Vision Correction has been available to reduce or completely eliminate the burden of wearing glasses or contact lenses. Over 2 million people worldwide have experienced the benefits of Laser Vision Correction. Approximately 1 million procedures will be conducted over the next year. Laser procedures are capable of correcting variable amounts farsighted, nearsighted, and astigmatic prescriptions. With the right patient, Laser Vision Correction can even remove the dependency upon bifocals beyond the age of 45.

Vision Therapy
Seeing clearly is not enough. For many people, reading and hand-eye coordination tasks can be very difficult. The act of sight not only includes ones eyes, but it also includes the neurological activity that processes the visual information. Throwing a ball or skiing down a hill, is a learned activity; to do either well takes practice. Those who do it best are those who started learning at the earliest age. Sight plays an important role in the learning of these activities. Sight is the steering mechanism; it is the main activity that provides feedback regarding what really is happening. We provide Vision Therapy to help individuals learn how to process visual information and develop better hand-eye coordination skills.
